Ideas, Arrangements, Effects Reading Prompts
“Hard” and “soft” arrangements in a previous workspace of mine:
Map an aspect of your topic to the Ideas/Arrangements/Effects framework. For instance, if you were working with zoos: an idea is that animals should be able to be observed at will by humans; an arrangement is a cage at the zoo; an effect is that animals often become distressed. Since arrangements are “a rich and frequently overlooked terrain for creating change” (32): can you identify a way you could change your identified arrangement, and how that might reflect a different idea, or have a different effect?
Working with homes and their own arrangement to be decluttered and tidied up.

Not sure if I will be conducting an interview as planned or not... Might refer to friends of mine who are interior designers instead just to gauge what they would think about an idea of the sort.
Project Progress and Draft
After some research into endangered material resources being used in furniture, I found that the most materials at risk are exotic woods. So I decided to lean into something made of wood, and thought of a coffee table. This is also reminiscent of my time at an earlier wooden works firm, where I saw many employees with damaged doors because they were untrained on how to take care of the wood.

I tested this dialogue with someone by narrating the lines once they did the action, and they seemed to empathize with the coffee table, even if it was just in humor. I would like to further test this by perhaps creating a p5 sketch of the experience before going on to do anything physical, especially because of how turbulent I am expecting the next 2 weeks to be with my personal life.
